Naming the Funky Armadillo

I have spent a lot of time naming pets in my life…they must have names that are unique, creative, or somehow reflect their individual little personalities…   So yeah, I have had some pets with weird names.

A great example of this is the cowdog that is sitting on my front porch right now, hoping to be let in to lay on her favorite rug…Schatzie. That is pronounced Shot-See. It is German for Sweetheart, which really fits her, she is a sweet dog, probably the sweetest I have owned.

I have, of course, named dogs and cats…a couple of hermit crabs, and many many fish. I have owned a Meeko, a Scout (from To Kill a Mockingbird), a Lexus and a Jaguar, a Copenhagen, a TabbiKat, a Tonto, a Ferngully, a Cujo (cat), a Racer, and a Hermileta, among others.

And now, I evidently need to come up with something for an armadillo. The little guy arrived in the front yard a few days ago, creating quite a stir with the dog and the cats, and made himself right at home. Days later, the cats have settled into a mild curiosity, the dog accepted that the armadillo is not a threat to her humans, and the armadillo has settled into rooting up bugs in the side yard with no obvious plans to leave. Therefore he will be given a name, as do all the creatures that stick around.

I even once named “the guy on the couch” in college, since he stuck around and no one seemed to know his name. I called him Stevie.

So…if the guy on the couch got a name, then so does the armadillo…

Maybe you could name him after the guy on the couch…
